INTRODUCTION
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will play host to over 3,000 prominent leaders, entrepreneurs, business leaders, civil society and policy makers at the fourth Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2013 (4th GES 2013) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from October 11-12.
Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will officiate at the 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2013 that is aimed at empowering entrepreneurs with the skills and resources necessary to compete and thrive in the 21st century.
The inaugural summit was held in Washington, DC in 2010.
The 4th GES 2013 will serve to connect entrepreneurs, educators, bankers, venture capitalists, angel investors, incubators and policy makers.
Host Malaysia is expecting that more than 3,000 people from over 50 countries will attend the Summit, with the theme "Empowering & Connecting Entrepreneurs".
Rock star entrepreneurs the world over, thought leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs will converge here to brainstorm and network on a wide array of topics at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre under the majestic PETRONAS Twin Towers.
The 4th GES 2013 will bring some of the best names to Kuala Lumpur, under four distinct tracks: building an entrepreneurial ecosystem; creating tomorrow's game-changers; emerging trends; and connecting for growth.
In what promises to be the hive of everything entrepreneurship, the Government of Malaysia will bring more than 100 practitioners and thought leaders as speakers who will share their views with the entrepreneurial community.
Topics to be discussed include innovative business models, disruptive innovation, the maker movement, digital entrepreneurship, innovative funding models, talent development, taking start-ups global and learning from success and failure.
Emerging trends in the start-up scene with special focus on Asia will also be discussed including fostering a green economy, products for the emerging Asian middle class, low-cost scalable solutions for the 'bottom billion' and co-Islamic finance and financial inclusion.
In creating tomorrow's game-changers, there will be topics such as 'business not as usual': learning from risk takers, building great companies, investing in technology start-ups, and social entrepreneurship and transformation.
Participants will delve into consumer products and services for the emerging middle class, the Entrepreneurial University, the Malaysian start-up landscape, start-ups going global and job-creation through small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Ways to develop an entrepreneurial team, crowd funding as a source of capital for SMEs, strengthening the investment climate in the community and market access will also be discussed at the 4th GES 2013.
There will also be the discussions on 'Beyond Silicon Valley: Start-up Ecosystems around the World,' where governments, investors, corporations, foundations and entrepreneurs themselves play an all-important role.
In addition, the 4th GES 2013 will feature additional activities such as Startup Academy Workshops, Founder/Mentor matchmaking sessions, Insider's Roundtable on Malaysia and ASEAN, Young Entrepreneurs including finalists from the Global Innovation through Science and Technology's (GIST) Tech-I competition.

ACCREDITATION
Accreditation is required for journalists/photographers/broadcasters covering the event. Please apply for an application form for accreditation to cover the meeting from BERNAMA Media Relations & Event Management (MREM) as attached below.
Each media organization is requested to appoint a representative to coordinate accreditation and accommodation arrangements for its team. Please duplicate the forms if more are required.
Accreditation is available to representatives of recognised media organisations assigned to cover the 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2013. Media representatives should provide a letter of assignment endorsed by their respective agency with their application.
Foreign media are requested to return their accreditation forms with two-passport size photographs directly to the 4th GES 2013 Media Secretariat at the address provided below.
All members of the press corps accompanying Head of State or Government or Head of Delegation must complete an application form for accreditation, attaching an official letter from the Government concerned, listing the names of the media representatives with their functional titles and affiliation.

MEDIA FACILITIES
The International Media Centre (IMC) for the 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2013 (4th GES 2013) will be located beside the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. (exact location to be confirmed)
The IMC will provide adequate working space, communication facilities and other related media services to meet the requirements of all accredited journalists, broadcasters and photographers.
The IMC will begin operating from October 9, 2013 and cease operations on October 13, 2013. The operating hours are from 8.00 a.m. – 8.00 p.m.

ACCOMMODATION
Media representatives will be responsible for their own travel arrangements and reservation of hotel accommodation. Members of the media are requested to deal directly with their preferred hotels on the number of rooms required, guest names, arrival and departure dates, rates and payment procedures.

ENTRY FORMALITIES
Visitors must have national passports or other internationally recognised travel documents, endorsed for travelling in Malaysia and with a validity period of at least six (6) months beyond the time of stay allowed in Malaysia. Please be informed that nationals from certain countries may require appropriate visas to enter Malaysia. Please verify the visa requirement from the nearest Malaysian Mission or kindly log on to http://www.kln.gov.my.
All non-resident travellers are required to complete the Travellers' Declaration Form to declare the amount of foreign currency notes and travellers cheques they are carrying upon their arrival and departure.

CUSTOMS CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
The media coming to Malaysia to cover 4th GES 2013 need to declare with Customs in their country (i.e. country of departure) before they arrive into Malaysia.
They are required to get a letter/form called "Carnet" from their respective authorities. This form will indicate equipment being brought by them to facilitate their coverage of the 4th GES 2013 and that they will be returning to their country with the same equipment.
Upon arrival at Malaysian Customs they only need to show this form, dully authorised by their Customs in the country of origin. This is to ensure that all the broadcast equipment that they bring with them will be taken back to their country when they leave Malaysia.
The form will endorse the full list of equipment being brought into Malaysia.

MEDICAL
Vector surveillance is carried out in all ports and airports to ensure that Malaysia is free from Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. As such, travellers without a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, approved by WHO and administrated at an approved Yellow Fever Vaccinating Centre, will be quarantined upon arrival in Malaysia. Media Representatives whose points of departure for Malaysia are from Latin America or African countries should have a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.

MEDICAL FACILITIES
The relevant hospitals in Kuala Lumpur have been alerted to provide outpatient and inpatient services. Ambulance will be provided when necessary to ferry the sick to hospitals. There will be doctors and paramedics to provide immediate emergency services to delegates, participants and media representatives attending the 4th GES 2013. However, they will be financially responsible for all services beyond the scope of the clinic including:
